Aerial Signal Attenuators
These are commonly used if the TV aerial signal is too strong. In the case of digital TV this can show up as pixulating or sound break up, just as if it would, if the signal was too weak!
Maybe you live close to a TV transmitter or your area has just undergone digital switchover where the digital power from the transmitter has been greatly increased.
The aerial attenuator would normally be fitted between the TV aerial lead plug and the TV aerial socket.
They are available with attenuation in the following values: 3dB 6dB 9dB 12dB and 18dB. As a guide a 6dB attenuator would reduce the aerial signal by half.
