Caravan Aerials

Television and radio reception can often be a problem for many camping sites due to the very nature of their idyllic locations many at sea level many surrounded by trees. This is made worse when trying to receive digital TV broadcasts as will be the norm after 2012 when all analogue TV transmitters are turned off.

To help overcome the difficult TV reception issues when using caravan aerials it is important to choose one that has a high gain. This is usually accomplished with a caravan aerial amplifier built in.

We have selected two models of caravan TV aerials that have amplifiers built in. First there is the new excellent build quality Televes 'Diginova' high gain caravan aerial that has a UHF (TV) gain of 30dB. FM and DAB reception is also catered for with an aerial gain of 20dB and 26dB respectively. This antenna is also designed to be installed on your home!

We also stock the excellent budget priced Mercury Caravan/Marine TV aerial, again with a built in amplifier of 20dB. This antenna will also handle VHF (DAB and FM radio) broadcasts.

Both aerials will work on either a 12 volt DC supply or AC mains supply.

As with all TV and radio reception, the best signals are received when the aerial is in line of sight to the transmitter. Unless you are camping on a hill I would recommend that the caravan aerial be as high as possible. Under ‘related products’ with each caravan aerial, I have shown a few sample aerial masts that we stock along with some brackets to secure a mast to your caravan.
